One thing that has stuck with me is that we are all cut from the same cloth. What this means is that anything anybody else can do, you can do as well. That’s really important. Far too many times people will idolize their heroes and that actually does more harm then good. A perfect example of this is one of my heroes, Georges St. Pierre. At a very young age, he was given a title shot against the greatest UFC welterweight of all time, Matt Hughes. Hughes was GSP’s idol at the time, in GSP’s mind there was no way he would be able to beat his idol! And what happened? Well, what do you think happened, he lost. The law of attraction at work. They met two more times after that fight, and both times GSP absolutely demolished Hughes. The difference? GSP did not think of Hughes as his idol any longer, he thought of Hughes as his equal.
The accomplishments of say, Martin Luther King Jr., are absolutely incredible. But it is not diminishing in the least of his achievements by saying that we are all capable of achieving greatness like he did. Man or woman, regardless of race, culture, wealth, education, or any of that stuff, it is in all of us because we are made of flesh and bones just like everybody else. Jesus was but a man. He was the son of God, but I have some news for you. We are all children of God. Eckart Tolle would call Jesus, Buddha, and a few others as highly conscious people. That’s it. It just means you haven’t gotten there yet. Same with ANYTHING. Beyonce’s idols were TLC, then she surpassed them in music sales. People thought the single season home run record would go untouched for all eternity, then it was crushed by three different people on six separate occasions in the span of 3 years. Michael Phelps did the impossible at the Olympics by winning lots of Gold Medals. Guess what? That record will be beaten one day.
Greatness is within you, because its within all of us. There is no need to look up at false idols, because they only exist in your mind. You can have heroes (I know I do), but I suggest you think twice about worshiping these heroes. What can be accomplished by one, can be accomplished by any. The only person you should worship is Criss Angel. 😉 But that’s because he is not human. He does real magic and can fly and walk on water and get thrown into a wood chipper and survive. He can pull money out of paintings and beautiful women out of thin air. The only person that could possibly stop him is Chuck Norris. Maybe Fedor. /end joke
Believe you can, really believe it. Stop with the idol worship and realize how much power you actually possess within yourselves. They did, so can you.
